Foreword to the Second Edition
Since The Night Watchman was published in 1992 I have written more than 300 poems and translated a few of them into English. Seventeen of such translations are now added to the book to bring it uptodate. With a total of 85 poems now this enlarged edition includes almost one thirteenth of my entire output in verse. I am grateful the Muse in her everlasting youth has not yet forsaken such an old poet as I am.
To remain a poet is to remain young, which gives one the illusion of immortality.
