Preface
Ginsenosides are the main nutritional and functional components of Panax ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) and are increasingly favored by people worldwide, especially by natural medicine researchers and practitioners. With the continuous advancement of technology, theoretical research and industrial application and development have made remarkable achievements, providing scientific research to uncover the mystery of ginseng as the “king of herbs” and technological support for fully realizing the magical effect of Panax ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) on human health.
In the “Standard NMR Spectrum of Ginsenosides” (2012), a total of 100 standard NMR spectra of ginsenosides present in Panax ginseng,Panax quinquefolius, and Panax notoginseng, as well as their structural modifications or transformations, were summarized, including the NMR spectrum characteristics of dammarane-type, oleanane type, and ocotillol-type ginsenosides.
This book, “Standard NMR Spectrum of Ginsenosides” (2013—2023), collects the research results of newly discovered ginsenosides and panaxsapogenol, structural modification, and NMR spectral features of ginsenosides in the last decade or so.A total of 160 standard NMR spectra and data of ginsenosides from China and abroad are included in the book, including 62 protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides, 87 protopanaxatriol-type ginsenosides, 9 ocotillol-type ginsenosides and 2 oleanane-type ginsenosides. This provides a more comprehensive understanding of the material basis for the magical efficacy of Panax ginseng (Panax quinquefolius).
Each ginsenoside is described with its Chinese name, English name, molecular formula, structural formula, molecular weight, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and some HMQC and HMBC spectra in the book. The authors of the reference literature are respected and acknowledged with gratitude.
During the compilation process, it is regrettable that some ginsenosides lack original NMR spectra.Additionally, there may be many deficiencies in the book, so feedback and corrections from colleagues and scholars are welcome.
