本书是在作者博士论文的基础上完成的。本书研究汉语特殊型语言障碍(Specific Language Impairment 简称 SLI)儿童限制性关系从句的习得问题。在前人研究的基础上,首次对汉语SLI儿童关系从句的产出、理解和重复进行系统地研究。跨语言的研究表明SLI儿童在习得关系从句时会遇到困难,但是关于习得困难的原因学界并未达成一致意见。目前为止,关于汉语SLI儿童关系从句习得的研究还不多见。本书的主要创新和建树是对汉语SLI儿童的语法缺损特征以及原因进行了系统探究,并将该缺损与SLI儿童的诊断和矫正联系起来。研究成果不仅能为汉语SLI儿童诊断标准的制定提供重要依据,且能为汉语SLI儿童的语言康复和矫正提供重要参考。在国内首次提出了一套SLI儿童的鉴定程序,这对于疑似SLI儿童初筛阶段的迅速锁定以及中后期的科学检测与诊断,均具有一定参考价值。本著作的大部分研究成果均被应用于广东外语外贸大学开发的《语言障碍儿童语言康复系统》,该系统在试用阶段受到学生家长和培训机构老师的好评。
