本教材为《海洋生物学》双语教材，是根据我国海洋生物学课程的教学实际，由麦格劳?希尔公司出版的《海洋生物学》（第8版）改编而成。教材力求保持原著的基本脉络和逻辑框架，并参照我国海洋生物学教学与科研的主要关注点，分12章系统介绍了常见的海洋微生物、无脊椎动物、藻类和鱼类等海洋生物门类，并重点对海洋生态及潮间带、河口、大陆架和珊瑚礁等海洋环境及其典型特性进行了阐述。《海洋生物学（第8版）（双语版）》适于普通高等院校海洋生物学类专业课程及通识课程使用，亦适于相关专业英语类课程教学使用。
