在中国改革开放以来的经济发展过程中，不同时期和不同地区出现了多种制度变迁与经济发展的模式。其中的温州模式，不仅因其形成和发展过程中的自身特征，也因其在抗争中形成的发展生命力和示范效应，受到了国内外的广泛关注。本书从总论、企业、市场、政府、文化几个不同的方面来揭示温州模式的形成与发展的内在机理：*篇总论，由三个研究报告以姐妹篇的形式构成了温州模式研究这一课题的总报告。第二篇企业，主要研究了在制度转型背景下，温州民营企业成长的道路与产业群落的发生等。第三篇市场，主要研究了温州商品市场，要素市场和中介组织等市场组织的演化和创新。第四篇政府，主要研究了温州市场进化过程中的政府职能转变和政府与市场边界的重新界定。第五篇文化，主要从文化即非正式制度角度，解释温州模式演化中的影响和作用。本书计划在初版的基础上进行修订，试图在当前经济发展背景下剖析温州模式的意义与价值。
