This is a collection of Ren Rongrong''s children''s poems. Each child can find the story of himself or other children. This collection records the childhood of the writer as well as the children nowadays. Dear children, have you ever given up learning something because of the laughing of others while another "idiot" ignored the laughing and learned the skill?Have you ever wondered who is the teacher of my parent? Have you ever discussed with your friends about the work of your father? Have you owned a toy that you would never desert? Have you been scared by a dentist? Have you ever imagined to have a place free to scream without thinking of others? If your answer is YES, why not open this book and refind the fun of your childhood?

Preface
I
Vicissitudes do mark human affairs always;
Time comes, time goes, thus there are old as well as modern days.
In Natures bosom remains the historical site;
My friends and I now, in our turn, climb to the heights.
Tang Dynasty: Meng Haoran
Modern Chinese literature already has a history of 100 years, so does
modern Chinese childrens literature. This has left us with a great number of
famous sites in the spiritual field and led us to ascend and appreciate the
boundless scenery of the literature world.
In this globalized, networked and informationalized era, it is not only
possible but also necessary for Chinese literature to become integrated
into world literature and spread out across the world. Since the start of the
21st century, China has attracted much attention by becoming the second
largest economy in the world. The craze for China, craze for the Orient
and craze for sinology are increasingly heated up, which demonstrate that
Chinese culture is gradually being granted its due status and value in the
world culture. At the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Beijing International Book
Fair, both held once a year, the translated introduction and copyright output
of Chinese literature play a significant role; the China Writers Association
organizes writer delegations annually to go around the world for exchanges
on literature; famous universities in China such as Peking University, Beijing
Normal University, Fudan University and Nanjing University hold a variety
of seminars on world literature and comparative literature each year and
dispatch professors and experts as visiting scholars; the Confucius Institutes
around the world have become friendly envoys disseminating Chinese
culture. The key focus is introducing Chinese culture and literature to the
world, and that includes Chinese childrens literature.
Chinese childrens literature is deeply rooted in the fertile cultural soil of
the 5,000-year Chinese nation inherited from oracle bone inscriptions. It
picks up the remote myth totem like In Pursuit of the Sun and Bird Jingwei
Trying to Fill the Sea, and carries forward the treasury of folk fairy tales and
songs with colorful agricultural civilization since the Qin 221 BC206 BC
and Han 206 BC220 AD dynasties. After entering modern times, with an
open mind, it has absorbed new elements and patterns of foreign childrens
literature represented by Europe and America, thus developing into the
modern Chinese childrens literature we see today. From the beginning of
the 20th century, Chinese childrens literature now presents a splendid sight
after strenuous efforts and intelligent creation by five generations of writers,
including Ye Shengtao, Bing Xin, Mao Dun, Zheng Zhenduo and Feng Zikai
first generation; Zhang Tianyi, Yan Wenjing, Chen Bochui, He Yi and
Jin Jin second generation; Ren Rongrong, Ren Dalin, Hong Xuntao, Ge
Cuilin, Sun Youjun and Jin Bo third generation; Ge Bing, Zhang Zhilu, Gao
Hongbo, Cao Wenxuan, Qin Wenjun, Shen Shixi and Huang Beijia fourth
generation; Yang Hongying, Tang Sulan and Xue Tao fifth generation.
Today, Chinas status as a large country producing childrens publications
is forged by outstanding performance with 600 million copies of childrens
books published each year, more than 80,000 categories in the retail market
and the annual sales of over 8 billion yuan. Here, childrens literature books
are dominant products. Excellent childrens literature works in China win
warm praise from young readers. These works include Cao Wenxuans novel
Grass House which has gone through 130 printings over a period of 10 years;
Yang Hongyings Naughty Boy Ma Xiaotiao has published 20 million in
total; Childrens Literature published in Beijing has a monthly circulation
of some 1.1 million copies, making it the largest print run of a pure literature
publication in China.
Childrens literature books also include E-books, and audio-video ones.
Various forms of reading activities organized all over the country have
promoted reading of the classics, early-stage reading, parent-child reading,
class reading, picture book reading, allowing childrens literature to move
into the spiritual world for millions upon millions of children China now has
367 million juveniles.
II
China is now a country with the door open to the outside world. Chinese
childrens literature with distinctive modern features has to go out to the
world and children of different complexions also need to know and have
an influence on Chinese childrens literature. It is therefore necessary and
entirely proper to present Best Chinese Childrens Literature Chinese and
foreign language versions, which contains the most original, influential and
typical childrens literature works in contemporary China. Publication of this
series is believed to have multi-faceted realistic meaning and cultural value
for Chinese childrens literature to go out into the world.
First, the world will get to know China.
Contemporary China can be understood through the Great Wall, the
Palace Museum, the Terra-Cotta Warriors, Peking Opera, martial arts,
pandas, the Birds Nest and the Water Cube and other facilities built for the
2008 Olympic Games, the Three Gorges Dam, atomic bomb, hydrogen
bomb and artificial satellite, high-speed railways and manned spacecrafts.
However, its far from enough. China should also be understood through
its literature that profoundly expresses the realistic life, thinking, emotions
and psychologies of todays Chinese people. The best way to know the future
development of China is through its childrens literature. This is what grownups
write for the younger generation and it contains spiritual dialogues and
value expectations between two generations. Therefore, first-class childrens
literature works in contemporary China can make the world understand the
realistic life and mental condition of children in China as well as their ideals,
pursuits, dreams, emotions and living status; the world can also get to know
how Chinese culture and society express requirements and expectations for
the next generation through childrens literature works, and get a view of the
influence and meaning of Chinas cultural and social changes today on the
foundation for the humanity of the next generation. Lu Xun, a major writer
of modern Chinese literature, once said, The status of childhood decides the
future fate. The current Chinese childrens literature naturally reflects the
trend of China in the future.
Second, children around the world can get familiar with and befriend
each other.
Childrens literature is world literature in the real sense, because it is
created based on childlike innocence and a common language. Childrens
literature has therefore global perspectives while showing the culture
of its own nation; it embodies the spirit of the times and also presents
ethnic characteristics; it is of artistic nature but belongs to children. The
significance of childrens literature as world literature is most conspicuous.
It is in the broad field of childrens literature that the young of different
colors, nations, languages and cultures all over the world get together to
enjoy the fun, dream and freedom of the childhood. Children in China have
tasted the myth, diversity and beauty of cultures in different parts of the
world by reading fairy tales in the ancient Greek, Aesops fables, Andersons
fairy tales, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Pippi Longstocking and Harry
Potter; similarly, children all over the world, if having the chance to read
Chinese childrens literature, will also be able to know and feel the youth,
profoundness and beauty of the ancient China. Best Chinese Childrens
Literature Chinese and foreign language versions undoubtedly opens
a colorful door for children around the globe to know Chinese childrens
literature and paints a discovery path towards the mental world of children
in China......
