张永和， 1956 年出生，西南政法大学教授、博士生导师，人权研究院执行院长、《中国人权评论》主编。中国人权研究会常务理事。出版与人权有关的专著有《权利的由来》《中国大众人权观念调查》《临潼信访》《武侯陪审》《大邑调解》等。在《中国法学》《法学研究》《法学》《政法论坛》《法律科学》《现代法学》和人民日报、光明日报等报刊上发表与人权相关论文30余篇。 Zhang Yonghe is professor of law and executive director of the Center for Human Rights Education and Research, Southwest University of Political Science and Law. He is also the standing director of China Society for Human Rights Studies. Professor Zhang is a prolific writer on China and human rights. His notable monographs include The Origin of Human Rights and Surveying the Chinese Publics Ideas on Human Rights. Additionally, he has contributed some 30 articles to journals and newspapers including China Legal Science, Chinese Journal of Law, Law Science Magazine, Tribune of Political Science and Law, Science of Law, Modern Law Science, The Peoples Daily, and Guangming Daily.

The history of human rights development is also that of the evolution of modern human civilization. As much as the achievements in this area have been gratifying, the problems and challenges are also worth our reflection. As a major emerging country, China has not always charted its own path in the development and protection of human rights. Although the journey has been arduous and frustrating, China has made remarkable achievements. At present, Chinas human rights practices, stories, and propositions provide a different way of thinking to the world, and the Chinese experience in human rights development contributes a different model for human rights work.
