Daniel Defoe16601731, was an English trader, writer, journalist,pamphleteerand spy. He is most famous for his novelRobinson Crusoe. He has been seen as one of the earliest proponents of theEnglish novel, and helped to popularise the form in Britain with others such asAphra BehnandSamuel Richardson.Defoe was a prolific and versatile writer, producing more than three hundred works. He was also a pioneer ofbusiness journalism and economic journalism.
