Having a long history, Tibetan literature is a symbol of unique historical culture and charm of Tibet. The Tibetan literature is in harmony with the Tibetan history, religion and art, and is known as the pearl of Chinese literature. The book gives an introduction to oral and written Tibetan literature genres as well as the establishment and development history of other compositions that fall in between these genres. It presents the Tibetan life, thoughts and aesthetic ideas implied by the Tibetan literary forms, serving as a testimony to Chinas Tibetan history for thousands of years.

诺布旺丹，现任中国民族学学会副秘书长、中国宗教学会理事、中国西南民族学会理事。著述有《艺人、文本和语境：文化批评视野下的格萨尔史诗传统》、《藏族神话与史诗》（藏文）、《生命之轮藏传佛教的活佛转世》等。
