關於作者：
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hermann Merz, geb. 1958 in St. Ingbert, studierte Elektrotechnik an der Universit?t Kaiserslautern. Nach dem Diplom 1986 war er dort wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Regelungstechnik und Signaltheorie und promovierte 1990 über Regelkreise mit zyklischen, nichtlinearen Stellgliedern. Von 1990-94 folgte eine T?tigkeit als System- und Software-Entwickler in den Bereichen 3D-Koordinatenmesstechnik und SPC-Technik bei der Komeg-Industrietechnik in Saarbrücken-Riegelsberg. Danach war er bei der Robert Bosch GmbH, Schwieberdingen, verantwortlich für die Durchführung von Projekten im Bereich der Entwicklung elektronisch geregelter Bremssysteme für Nutzfahrzeuge. Seit dem Wintersemester 1996/97 ist er Professor für Elektrotechnik, Elektrische Antriebstechnik und Automatisierungstechnik an der Fachhochschule Mannheim - Hochschule für Technik und Gestaltung und leitet das Institut für Grundlagen der Elektrotechnik.
