该教材是针对大连理工大学研究生公共英语基础课程“英语口语交流I基础交流”编写的教材。教材主要解决学生在英语口语交流中出现的三个主要问题：（1）学生英语发音不太准确。（2）学生不太熟悉日常生活的英语表达。（3）学生不太会用英语完成任务。教材共8个单元，包括8个社会热点话题：Biodiversity,Love,Time,Greenbusiness,Beauty,Wirelesstechnology,Mediaandculture,Development。每个单元包含4部分：（1）语音练习（2）一般口语交际练习（3）专题口语交际练习（4）社会调查练习。教材内容的设计基于问卷调查的结果，并以讲义的形式已试用了2轮，学生反映很好。

马建军，博士，副教授，硕士生导师，大连理工大学外国语学院教师。2002年毕业于英国卡迪夫大学，获得应用语言学专业硕士学位；2012年获得大连理工大学计算机应用技术博士学位，专业方向为机器翻译。自1996年以来，一直进行英语教材和参考书的编写工作，独立编著和独立主编12本，主编7本，参编教材7本，主审2本，内容涉及英语口语、阅读、词汇、托福听力等。
