Charles Lutwidge Dodgson known by the pseudonym Lewis Carroll was born in 1832. He was an ordained Deacon and an Oxford don. He was also a notable photographer, especially of children, with whom he had a remarkable rapport. It was for one child in particular, Alice Liddell, that the story of Alice was created. Carroll published a sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, in 1871. He died in 1898.
