一九三七年十二月十三日，日本侵略者攻破南京，制造了惨绝人寰的大屠杀事件，遭难者达三十万人。然而，日本至今仍有人否认发生过“南京大屠杀”，仍有人著书撰文为侵略者开脱罪责。
我们国内尚无一部较全面、较完整地反映这一事件的著作。徐志耕的《南京大屠杀新编英文版》从纪实文学方面填补了这一空白，作者饱蘸国人的血泪、历史的风烟，以详尽的事实和资料，将这一事件的始未告诉给读者。

徐志耕，浙江绍兴人。1964年应征入伍，南京大学中文系毕业。当过海防哨兵和军事记者。现为中国人民解放军南京军区文艺创作室专业作家，国家一级作家。主要作品有《莽昆仑》、《忧乐万家》、《情海望不断》、《我是一个兵》、《九江狂澜》、《南京大屠杀》等。作品曾荣获庄重文学奖、中国人民解放军文艺奖、“金钥匙”图书奖、徐迟报告文学奖、全国优秀报告文学奖等多种奖项。
