杨滢滢,女,博士。现任上海外国语大学讲师。曾获2009-2010年度中美富布赖特联合培养博士生项目奖学金,并赴美密歇根大学深造访学。方向:二语习得、教学法、语料库语言学。近年来参与国家社科基金、教育部和上海市等多项科研工作,从事英语教学和研究近10年,发表论文数篇,多次参与国际国内学术会议,并参与论文集、教材、教辅和字典等若干编写工作。

1.6Structureofthebook
Thisbookiscomposedofsixchapters.Chapter1beginswiththegeneralintroductionoftheresearch,thebasicformsandmeaningsoftenseandaspectinEnglishwithspecialreferencetothesimplepasttense,andtemporalityexpressionsinChinese;particularly,thecomplexityofChineseaspectmarker"le"ispresentedhereforthepurposeofhighlightingChineselearners''difficultiesinacquiringthesimplepasttense.Theresearchmotivesandbackgroundareintroducedaswell,followedbythenewperspectivesoftheresearchtobeincorporatedinthecurrentstudies.Finally,thelayoutofthebookisdisplayed.
Chapter2preparesthetheoreticalframeworkfortheresearchbyelaboratingConstructionGrammar,Form-MeaningConnections,andAssociativeLearningTheory,withaviewtomakingclearhowtheycanbeexploitedtoaccountforthecomplexityofsecondlanguagelearners''establishingform-meaningconnections,andwhatfactorsmaybeaffectingtheprocessofmakingFMCs.Moreimportantly,byanalyzingthosefactors,wemayhaveaclearerideawhatlearningmechanisminvolvedintheprocessmaybebeneficialforlearnerstorealizetheFMCsintheactualuseofthelanguage.Theresearchquestionsarethenraisedwithinthistheoreticalframeworkinthechapter.
LiteraturereviewintermsofI_2learners''acquisitionoftenseandaspectsys-temispresentedinChapter3,mostlyfromform-ormeaning-orientedperspectives.Inaddition,thefourpreliminarystudiesarealsoreviewedinthischapter.Foronething,theresultsoftheauthor''spreviousstudieshavevalidatedothers''researchfindingsinthisfield,foranother,bothhavesomelimitationsandneedtobefurtherenrichedfromotherperspectives.Thereviewwillalsoprovideaclearideaaboutwhyandhowtheresearchscopeinthebookhasbeennarroweddowntothesimplepasttenseforfurtherexplorationandinvestigation.
Chapter4isdedicatedtothecurrentstudiesinthebook.Theresearchmethodology,datacollection,datacoding,dataanalysis,andresultsanddi.scussionareprovidedinthischapter.ThestudiesinthischapterattempttoanswerthefirsttworesearchquestionsontheC,hineselearners''makingFMC.softhesimplepasttenseandtheaffectingfactorsintheprocess.Apparently,thisprocessinvolvesnumerouscognitiveloads,andadditionalattentionalresourcesarerequiredforachievingfullandcompleteFMCs.ThesefindingscastdoubtonthereliabilityofimplicitlearningaloneintheprocessofmakingFMCs,andinducethenecessityofexplicitJearning.Chapter5renderstheanswerstothethirdresearchquestionbyexploringtheeffectivenessofexplicitlearningthroughadoptingdifferenttypesofdirectcorrectivefeedback.Similarly,theresearchmethodology,datacollection,datacoding,dataanalysis,andresultsanddiscussionareprovidedhere.Thestudiesinthischapterexhibittheimportanceandnecessityofexplicitlearningintermsofrealizingtheform-meaningmappinginarealandcompletesense.
