JeromeSessinibuildsapassionforphotography,discoveringAmericandocumentaryphotographythroughbooksshownbyafriend,aphotographer.Heinitiateshisownpractice,shootingpeople,landscapesanddailylivesofthosearoundhisnativeEasternFrancewithDianeArbus,LeeFriedlander,MarkCohenandEugeneRichardsinmind.
In1998,althoughnothingpredictedhewouldturntojournalism,SessiniarrivesinParis.GammaphotoagencygiveshimtheopportunitytocovertheongoingconflictinKosovo.
Sessinihassincethencoveredmostoftheinternationalcurrentevents:Palestine,Iraqfrom2003to2008,Aristide’sfallinHaiti2004,theconquestofMogadishubytheIslamicmilitiasandthewarinLebanon2006.
Sessini’sworkisimmediatelyinternationallyacknowledged.Itispublishedbyprestigiousnewspapersandmagazinesamongwhich,Newsweek,Stern,Paris-MatchaswellasLeMondeandtheWallStreetJournal.
HisphotographyalsoleadstosingleexhibitionsattheVisaPhotoFestivalinPerpignan,attheRencontresd’Arles,theBibliothèquenationaleFran?ois-Mitterrand,aswellaswiththeFrenchMinistryofCulture.
